To all our parishioners,

As you may be aware, an announcement was made in the last few days from the Government that all churches and other places of worship will be allowed to open for personal prayer only.

At this stage, no public services including Adoration of the Blessed Sacrament or Holy Mass are to be permitted until further notifications have been received from the Government and from the Conference of the Bishops of England and Wales/Diocese.

Regarding our parish of St. Peter and St. Raphael. At the present time, due to ongoing repair work in the church building, we are not able to reopen until all work has been completed and checked. It is anticipated that this will be done in the next few weeks.

Please be patient and keep praying that in the coming few weeks we will once again share, as a community, the body of Christ.

Yours in Christ,

Father Philip and Deacon Antony

Please inform as many people as possible. Keep safe and keep connected.

Dear All,

I am sending this email to personally connect with you and to say that I am thinking and praying for you at this difficult time. Despite Social Distancing and Self-Isolation let us all ensure that we keep communicating together and to look after those in most need. (Refer to the attached)

Father Philip sends his continual thoughts and prayers to everyone. He will be celebrating a private mass daily for our parishioners, the Church, the wider community and the world. Let us pray especially for all doctors, nurses and health care workers. May the presence and protection of the Lord be with them always as they deal with this emergency.

I ask that you link in with the Diocesan Website for Holy Mass on a Sunday at 10.45am. May we continue to be united with our bishop at this difficult time. Let us all make the Act of Spiritual Communion each day and recite The Angelus around noon, if possible, and offer this to Our Lord through His mother Mary.

May I add, during this dark period of our lives it would be a good opportunity for us to read some Scripture daily – the God who Speaks – may He speak to us at this time and may we listen with our minds and hearts.

Let us all make our homes places of prayer during this unprecedented and challenging health crisis.

May the presence of Christ be with you and your families. Keep Connected, Keep Safe with each other and be assured that I am thinking of each one of you.

Sending you my love, thoughts and prayers.

Yours in Christ,

Deacon Antony

I have set up a separate email address

for people to communicate. I ask you to forward this email to others and ask they individually respond to this email.

For those parishioners who have no internet please give them a copy of this correspondence or let them know by phone.

For those Parishioners who normally give in the collection at Mass and wish to help the Parish at this time, an online donation page to allow you to donate to the Parish has been added to the Diosise website.

Please be aware that a minimum donation of £5 is requested if giving in this way.

The page can also be used to set up a regular monthly donation, and you can also Gift Aid your donation to help the Parish further.

If you want to Gift Aid your donation, please tick the box shown on the screen even if you have previously completed a Gift Aid Declaration form in favour of the Parish for regular giving made by Offertory Envelope or Standing Order.

Thank you for your support. Click the link below to go to the Diocese of Shrewsbury page, the donation link is at the bottom of the page.

As there will be no public Masses for an indefinite period starting this weekend and an increasing number of people are self-isolating there will undoubtedly be a substantial number of your parishioners who will be unable to get to Church for several weeks. To help them follow the Mass, daily prayers, reading, etc. at home, and also keep up with the weekly church news we are offering free access to Magnificat online, and for those who would like the Print Edition there is a special one-off 4-month subscription to Magnificat and/or a 3-month subscription to The Catholic Herald at substantially discounted and affordable prices to ensure that the maximum number of people can take advantage.

So that as many people as possible can take advantage of the free and/or discounted offers can you please make your parishioners aware of these options and how to order in any way you are able? They can only be ordered by telephoning Margaret on 020 7448 3607 or Paul on 020 7448 3618 between 9.30am and 5pm Monday to Friday.

Below are special prices to help people over this difficult period and orders will need to be placed before Easter:

Magnificat 4 months April to July (including the Holy Week special issue) for £14

Catholic Herald 3 months (13 weeks) for £25

Both Catholic Herald and Magnificat (as above) £36

For free access to Magnificat online, log in at www.magnificat.com/free

Although we do expect that many people will still go to Church for personal prayer, we do hope that these special concessions will help people who cannot get there, and also those who want to follow the Masses, prayers, readings, etc. feel that they can still share in the life of the Church.

Thank you and best wishes

Dennis Charlick
